After arriving back in Cusco from Machu Picchu via the Railway, we stayed a night at the Point and got VERY drunk. I managed to not get back to the hostel till 4am after dancing on a bar with Anthony, Abra and Brian.... not a good choice when you need to be up at 6am to catch a bus to Puno at Lake Titicaca (7hour ride)....
We arrived at Puno around 2pm and i was feeling a wee fragile after that bus ride. We decided to stay with a family on Uros the man made floating Islands of Lake Titicaca (these islands are made of peat and straw which are fixed to a location so they dont float away)
We arrived on Uros around 4pm and explored the island (one of many) Abra, Greg, Anthony and Brian became our travelling companions for the trip. We planned only on one night on Uros where the locals who lived on the island cooked us dinner and set up our rooms (these spacious straw huts). That night there was a magnificent thunder storm and the rain came down so hard... I watched the folks cross the sky for some time before venturing to bed.
Bedtime was early, but we had to make sure we had sleep as the next day was a long trip across the boarder from Puno to La Paz. The next morning we woke to sunshine and many tourist visiting the islands for gifts. We all had breakfast and then took it in turns to try on the local clothing. Check out my facebook soon for pictures... so funny and heavy! i have no idea how they wear those clothes every day. We left the Islands at around 11am to make our way to the Bus Station - Where we would catch the La Paz bus........ What a special bus that was.........
