Sooo this will be my first blog entry....the first time i have been able to sit down for a length of time and catch you up on the 'adventures'
I am currently sat at a computer in Cusco, Peru typing on a keyboard which only owns half its characters, the rest is guess work.
We started out trip almost 3 weeks ago in Florida, where we enjoyed relaxing and drinking in anticipation for Reagan & Dan´s beach wedding on Anna Maria Island, not too far away from Tampa where we landed. We had the lovely company of Matthew a friend whom we met a year ago in Oxford... He drove from Jacksonville to say hi, what a nice friend. The Wedding was lovely, we sat in scorching heat whilst Reagan and Dan tied the knot. We had a huge down pour of rain after they arrived back at the Villa... which means good luck ;) so with the amount of rain we had, they be married a long time. The rain may sound bad... but actually i think it gave the day a lovely informal feel.
We left Florida on Sunday 26th Sept for Lima, Peru - and after 2 turbulant flights arrived in one piece and excited. Lima is a hussle and bussle of a city, it just never seems to stop moving. We stayed in a Hostel called HQ Villa which was fantastic, the people who worked there were so welcoming and friendly and all the guests ready to make friends. We met Oli and Rog who were from Sydney, Australia. They had just arrived from Europe where they had spent 3 months travelling and we´re now on the same leg as us... the roughing it leg. We also met some guys from Arizona, USA... and met up with friends of Becky´s, Brad and Lily who arrive in Lima 2 days before we were departing. I like Brad sense of budget ;) Keeping the costs down by eatting at local peruvian cafés... such a great meal!! so big and only 2.50 (at home deff 15.00)
However time crept up and we had to leave Lima for Cusco... Cusco was to be the beginning of the Inca Trail to the Lost city of Machu Picchu. We arrived yesterday via a 1 hour plane ride over the Andes which was amazing, seeing the white snowy tops of the moutains was overwhelming. Cusco (Cuszo) is 3 ,400m above sea level. Cusco is the oldest city in the America´s....... this is where my blog ends for the time being though, as i was ill yesterday and couldnt follow on with the group with the trek this morning. however i am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that today at 5pm local time i am well enough to catch up for the beginning of the moutain climb xxx
