Our Thailand blog.
We managed to do lots of things in Thailand see all the sights and God knows how many temples and Buddhas.
Some of the most memoriable stuff we did included, taking a day trip to Thailands old capital where we saw lots of Ruins and had great fun cycling around. Laura even got to ride a motorbike.
We took a cycle tour around the local/dirt poor communities of Bangkok, looking at how they lived and worked in sweat shops, and also went cycling through the Jungle style West Bank of the river where we had to cycle on narrow platforms (about 1m wide) over water and big drops. One of the girls on our ride fell of a platform and hurt her knee, but that doesn't stop the fearless locals zipping about on motorbikes. The tour we took was taken by the Dutch football team on Tuesday on their tour of Thailand. All the girls working with the company all wanted to work on Tuesday, and had great joy talking with the Dutch couple on the tour which ones were single or not.
We also had a thai massage, in a respectable joint I might add free of Ladyboys and rent girls. It cost us a fiver each and we had 2 hours of absolute bliss as our limbs were proded and bent about. It's not a typical western massage but still felt fabulous. We left the joint feeling light limbed and trouble free. Might try and get a massage in every country we go to as we had one in India as well, although think it get a bit expensive when we hit Australia.
Went to a night Bazaar and bout lots of cheap stuff. Kate was in heaven because all the stalls catered for her small feet, whereas Laura could only fit into Man shoes. Saw some flower markets, ate at street vendors (something Kate regrets), saw some more Buddhas. Laura swam in the Hotel's pool apparantley the first in Thailand and it looks like the water hasn't been changed since, I had to dodge all the stuff floating about in it. Took a boat trip down the river and got tipsy in a local pub. Went to a cinema to see Pirates of the Carribean 3, the screen was huge the chairs were leather and reclinable, and we had to stand as they played the national anthem before the start of the film which was quite wierd. They are so proud of their Royal family, you can't criticise them without getting arrested, you can deface a picture of the king without getting arrested with means standing on a coin or banknote accidently. Its the Kings 80th Birthday soon and the majority of Bangkok are walking around in yellow shirts to celebrate it.
Think thats all we did sorry it took so long to post this blogs.
All our love.
