Here's a long awaited blog from Melbourne.
Melbourne is a fantastic city its small compared to UK size cities and not over flowing with people. It has a little tiny city centre and the rest of it is sprawling suburbs.
Andrew kicked out the girls who were renting his house and so we had our own house in the swanky suburbs of St Kilda. Basically the first couple of days were just recouperation days where we only eat at Andrew's fantastic restraurant for free and slept. We did a bit of sightseeing by our self, got hopeless lost and bought lots of cheap warm clothes at Victoria market.
We borrowed Andrew's car and took at trip down the Great Ocean Road which was lovely to see all the views, but it was a windy drive so Laura (the driver) wasn't really able to appreciate the views because she was too busy concentrating on the road. Also saw the 12 apostles some rocks sticking out the sea, but apparantely some have collasped so there are only about 9 or something.
We ended up looking after a dog called Alex who was an abused rescue dog with the cutest face but he was absolutley terrified of us, wouldn't go near us and would shake whenever we tried to stroke him. So we basically felt like we lived in Melbourne with our house, car, local restaurant and dog.
Chris came up with Felix and she took us around the city, went up the tallest building and then out of it 88 floors high up in a glass box which was quite terrifying, especially for Kate who is afraid of heights. Also went on a Ferris wheel and looked at the finalists in a portrait art award which was really good.
Lynne treated us to Australian Football tickets so we got to see a match between local rivals Melboune and Collingwood, it was fantastic to see and as we were pretty much at pitch side we had great views of all the violence. Unfortunatley couldn't take any pics because Laura only has a video camera and had to beg them to let her enter the stadium with it let alone take it out and take pics.
Went and had dinner with Laura's Aunty Lynne which was lovely catching up, played Monopoly with Felix and he kicked both our arses.
Andrew treated us to Yum Cha a chinese breakfast which was fantastic we got to stuff our faces with lots and lots of authentic chinese dishes, which Felix kept telling us looked like pigs brains.
Our favourite bar turned out to be just around the corner from Andrew's restaurant, called the Espy it had live music which was great to see for the first time in 2 months and at the same time it reminded us of being back in India, because it was a dump and even saw cockroaches climbing up the wall.
Then Chris took us back to Bright with her.
