We had a great day! Our devotional this morning (we rotate being devotional leaders on our trip) was from Daniel. We had a great discussion this morning about how our modern day society is so much like Bablyon, and how God's warnings to the Babylonians so relate to us. We talked about how Mr. Pellat (who built Casa Loma that we visited yesterday) chose all the best from his society, but died miserable because he did not choose THE BEST, JESUS, the only giver of JOY! It was a great way to start our day! We hope your Lord's Day has been special as well.
After breakfast, we headed for downtown to visit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). As you can see from the pictures, the ROM has a curious mix of architectural styles. It was a great museum - we spent all day! My Mom enjoyed the textile area most. There were some interesting costumes, textiles, quilts and needle arts. Charlie enjoyed the Natural History area most. They had several great kids areas in addition to a really well done bio-diversity area. Eleanor enjoyed the Egyptian area most. As I noted in the photos, seeing King Tut in his American debut (three times!!!) in the 1970s pretty much gave me my fill of Egyptian art for life!!! I enjoyed the Art Deco area and the First People (the Canadian term for their Indians) exhibit.
When we left the ROM, we headed for the car... in the rain! Because of the predicted rain, we changed our plans from visiting the Harbourside and the Toronto Zoo. While we hated to miss those two stops, we totally enjoyed the ROM. As we headed back toward our hotel, we stoped at the Laura shop. I spied it on Friday and was excited to get back. I was excited to get something with a Laura label as funny as that sounds. While Eleanor was helping me, Charlie had my mom buy a necklace and pair of earrings for me - with a Laura box! They gave it to me at dinner thanking me for driving! It was very sweet!
After our little trip to Laura, we headed to Mr. Greek for dinner. While many people loathe thinking back to childhood, I DEFINITELY do not! Every trip we take always has a bit (or taste) of nostalgia. This year, while at Mr. Greek we could not resis ordering Saganaki. I have many fond memories of eating Saganaki at the Parthenon in Chicago when I was growing up there. It came and was as delicious as I remembered it from the 70s and included a great flame (as seen on the pictures) and a big OPA shout!! The ONLY thing that was missing was my Dad and his smile!! Both men in our lives would have loved Mr. Greek! We are missing them!
Following fully bellies from Mr. Greek, we picked up some fruit for the car and came back to the hotel to pack up our things. We have to get started very early tomorrow. We are headed back to the States. Destination: Corning, New York.

Charlie Greetings: Oh how I would have loved to be with you all and have some Saganaki. I too remember those days at the Parthenon. You must have sent your weather here as it rained most of the night and is still raining this morning. Glad that your Mom got you some memories from Laura's shop. You certainly deserve a reward for all of the driving. Looking forward to hearing from you when you get stateside. Love, Dad
