Oh my goodness! We stayed up late last night - we went to see the Falls lit up! That was great! We were beat when we arrived back at the hotel! We fell into bed. I read two pages and the next thing I knew Eleanor was turning out the lights!
This morning we woke up to a gray rainy day! Not only was it gray and rainy; it was 49 degrees! Yes! 49! It felt like February in Alabama. Everyone who knows me, knows I am always cold! So, today I had a blouse, sweater, jean jacket and rain coat on the whole day! We (I) immediately set the car heat on 80 degrees! Now that was more like it!
We were so very thankful that the Lord blessed us with such goood weather for our visit to the Falls! Thank you Lord!
Today, we met the rain and addressed a techno issue that we knew we would be facing: cell phone coverage on the other side of the border! This was one thing I didn't think about until after I was on the road. So, thanks to sweet Scott I have limited texting, but the AT&T phone charge per minute for Canada was sky high so we are without cell phone service! ARGH! Of course, we are missing talking to Scott and my dad. The thought didn't cross my mind until we were about to wheel out the Marriott in Niagara - we cannot use the phone's GPS!!! ARGH!!! So, I handed my mom the big map of Ontario and said here you go! Did I mention that it was POURING DOWN RAIN! We did start to laugh hysterically! My mother is quite the map reader; thank you Lord! The other complication we realized after we found the QEW (the road we needed to travel to Toronto), waas that the reference page for our Toronto hotel was not in the trip key information binder!!!! Ordinarily, this would be no big deal - just type in that hotel's name in the iPhone and hit go! However, with my phone rendered useless, I was forced to use one of my limited texts to SOS Scott! Thankfully, our lovely Ontario map had a 3"x5" blowup of Toronto. Dodie, legendary navigator, used Scott's text plus the mini-map to get us to the Ontario Science Museum AND to our hotel. Did I mentioned that this all happened in the driving rain with gale force winds!!! We are so thankful that God blessed us with safe travels despite loads of traffic. We had a great time at the Science Center and are thankful to bee in our hotel room. I think the hotel has been open less than a week; the construction trailer is still on site. We are just so thankful for warm and dry. Toronto is a beautiful place, and we loved driving alongside Lake Ontario up from Niagara.
