Here we are again, back in Sydney for another week! We arrived 2 days ago from a flight in from Alice Springs and we are here for one week until we hit the East Coast!
It seems like we have managed to do so much since we were last here in Sydney! We got on the greyhound bus and made our way to Melbourne for a week which was lots of fun. Verity really enjoyed it there and I think that when she moves back here (as im pretty sure this wont be her last visit!) she would love to live somewhere like Melbourne. It is a pretty cool place with quite a lot going on if you explore just a little bit. We didnt really think there was much when we first arrived and were worried that we were going to be wasting a week here but by the end of the week we loved it. We had a couple of girls in our room for a few nights that had already stayed in Melbourne so they knew all the good places to go and all the good things to do.
On the first night they were in our room they took us to a lentil restaurant that was a charity and volunteers ran it. You picked what you wanted from the menu and then at the end, you paid what you thought it was worth. We thought this was a pretty amazing idea as everything is so expensive here. And the food was really good so we didnt tip too badly! I had a lentil burger and Verity had lentil curry which she really enjoyed.
We then moved on to Camberra for the night which was very exciting! Not much going on there but as we were only there for one night we didnt mind. We just wanted to see it. It was like an old peoples town. We stayed in a little hostel that reminded us of an old peoples home and it was so quiet everywhere we went! We took a trip down to Parliement House and had a look around and we even managed to have some time to go to the cinema!
We then moved on to Adelaide for a couple of nights to see the town and then got ready for the Great Ocean Road!
We booked a tour through greyhound which took us right through the Great Ocean Road and it was amazing! Sitting back and watching the ocean at your side as you go is pretty nice!! And definatly something im sure I wont get to do again any time soon. We climbed the Grampians and had an incredible view. Although it was a little scary looking down. But we made it down alive!
After that we stopped off in Coober Pedy for the night at an underground hostel. We only spent one day there but I think that was long enough. The only thing to do there is look at lots of opal! We went to an opal mine and an undergound house. We also found the underground church with undeground sunday school which was strange to see. Nothing like any churches at home! With a bath for a Baptisimal pool!
We left there on the overnight bus and went off for our trip to Alice Springs. We didnt hang around there for very long before we were off on The Rock Tour.
The Rock Tour was so much fun. Met some cool people and had an amazing time. Did lots of walking and too many early morning wake ups! We slept in swags for two nights which was an experience but not as bad as i thought it was going to be! And watched the sun set over Uluru.
After the tour we caught a flight back to Sydney and this is where we are now. We have planned out the week for a few things we want to do and we went to the Aquarium today which was fun. Felt a little like a child again! And that is all I can tell you for now.
Until next time xxxx
