Hi everyone! As you all probably know by know I am now travelling on my own, sam decided to go home early so left on the 3rd of jan. I am not strictly on my own at the moment as a friend from home who i play rugby with was coming to sydney on the 7th of jan so i changed my plans slightly and waited for her to come and met up with her!! She is doing an exchange as a teacher in sydney but has a few weeks to do a bit of travelling so we will be going up to fraser island together and she leaves on the 23rd of jan, so from there i will be on my own!
Anyway since i last wrote i have been very busy!!! I didn't write anything about new years in sydney...which was amazing the fireworks were spectacular...i've never seen anything like it, was a real highlight of the trip. Since then we have left sydney with our first stop being byron bay. It was a horrible 12 hour coach journey but when we got there it was a pretty cool place! We were staying in an amazing hostel with its own kitchen and bathroom in the room..was more like an apartment!! It was a bit overcast in byron and to be honest if its not sunny and you can't go to the beach theres not much else to do! We went out that night though and went to this bar where we were just chilling out having a beer when this massive bug fell from the ceiling right in front of us! We both jumped up and screamed and the whole place were looking at us!! This local guy came to our rescue and got rid of it after telling us some hideous stories about spiders and snakes and things which scared us a bit!! The next day was a bit nicer so we headed to the beach which was very nice and the sea is much warmer up here too.
From byron we headed to surfers paradise, which we heard was a bit like magalof and it was!! We only stayed one night here, went to the beach in the day and then went on a crazy night out on a club crawl!!!
We are now in brisbane, which to be honest is a pretty boring city and there isn't much to do so we went to australia zoo today which is the steve irwin zoo, which was really cool. Watched the croc show which was taken by steve irwins wife terri. It is so humid up here though, its horrible!!
We are heading to noosa tomorrow which is meant to be a pretty little place with a nice beach, but the weather forecast is unfortunately rain, so we may not be able to go to the beach!!
lots of love Laura
