We have just got back from the most incredible 3 days in Fraser Island! The place is amazing!
There were about 34 of us on our trip and we got put into a group a of 8 within that, the whole trip was led by an incredible guide called Luke!
On the first day we drove over to the island and went to a fresh water lake called Lake Wobby where we saw a turtle and all swam in the lake and sunbathed. After that we were introduced to how we would be living for the next 3 days...beach camping. This meant that we all had to set up our own tent on the beach, make our own food and worst of all survive without a toilet or a shower for 3 days, although Luke did say he would take us to a lot of lakes to stop us smelling too much!
In the evening we had to cook and prepare our food on the beach which meant we probably ended up eating more sand then food then all the group sat around playing games and drinking. When we were trying to go to sleep in our tent at night though there was a dingo circling our tent and sniffing for food so that kept us awake for a while!
On the second day we woke up at half 6 sweating from how hot the tents were, it was literally like being cooked in an oven then we made some breakfast and set off again. The driving in the sand on the 2nd day was a lot worse and a lot of the cars got stuck in the sand and sunk because the sand was too soft to drive on. On the 2nd day we visited Elli Creek where the water is so pure you can actually drink it, then we went to the champagne pools and to the Indian head where we managed to see turtles, sharks and manta rays! Throughout all of these journeys I also fell over and bumped my head so much I got known as the clumsy one on the trip!
In the evening we all drank a lot of goon and played more drinking games, it ended up being a very ray night with many stories to share from it! It is safe to say no one was feeling well enough to drive the next day and our stomachs were not good on the bumpy journeys!
On the third day we drove to the other side of the island and went to Lake Michigan which is a beautiful pale blue lake that we were told to wash in- when we got back to the car from the lake we also found out that a dingo had actually managed to climb in one of the cars and eat their food! After the lake we had to travel back to rainbow beach and return from Fraser Island and the trip rightly ended with me falling over a tree stump when we got out the car and back to the hostel!
Fraser Island was definitely some of the best days of our lives where we met some amazing people and our car had a great bunch of people in it- Shannon, Greg, Leo, Alicia, and Alysha you made our trip to Fraser Island and provided us with some of the best stories of our trip so far!
