It was weird today as I had been put on opening and closing at lunch, but Emilie was also working, and normally I am under her charge whereas today it was the other way round, and so it made me feel a bit nervous about the decisions I was making in case she thought they were the wrong ones. I left myself a lot to do as I sent Brooke home at 2.15, despite the fact I could have done with her help resetting tables, etc. This left me with less time than I had wanted to put Alice through my Army sergeant style training program in how to work at Hogs Breath (OK, I wasn't as bad as barking orders at her, but I just wanted to talk her through some stuff to give her a head start).
Alice was training with me this evening, and it felt a bit strange bossing round a friend so much! Hopefully I get used to it soon. I think we're both feeling the pressure for her to do well, as Josh told her I had vouched for her being a good waitress. She dropped an avocado dish, but other than that it looks like she's doing OK. One of the guys from a table kept confusing me by doing things like ordering 'another' rum and coke, when his first drink was a JD and coke, and not knowing whether they had ordered their mains or not, so I handwrote in his bill that he had ordered rum. He left a comment on the comment card that I was the best rum server/waitress.
