After picking more bee balm, unloading the trailer of celery, spinach and watermelons, and picking the rest of the plums, Heather made us a glass of her orange and lemon cordial up, and showed us round the barn which she wants to do up for her crystal work again. She got us to pick up a crystal, and told us what it meant. I picked up rose quartz and Heather asked me the first thought that came to my head which was marigolds for some reason- she said last night she could see in my aura blue and green which means leadership and healing, and that she wasn't surprised I thought of marigolds as they have lots of healing properties. I'm not too sure what I think of all this, but am scared she can read inside my soul that I'm a bit doubtful.
The last job before lunch was a good way to whet our appetite- getting rid of all the plastic wrappings the bread comes in, although when something came along like a chocolate muffin with a flake on top, it was a bit disheartening knowing it was out of date. We headed back up to the house, where her next door neighbour came up for a cup of coffee after we'd finished our leftover macaroni cheese from last night.
It was then time to pick Hamish up from school, which we came along to, as afterwards she was driving to a place called Hope to pick up a sack of mussel meal. Mussel meal is basically powdered mussels, and they normally put it into capsules and sell as a vitamin supplement, but because it had gone off, Heather wanted it for fertiliser. It was at her cousin's place, but we didn't meet him, just someone who worked there too. He showed us what his home-grown tobacco looks like.
Back at the house, we hydrated ourselves with a drink of water (much needed), and then tied up sacks of pine cones and stacked them, ready for use when they need them to light the fire. Alice wanted to keep one she thought resembled a house with a chimney, and thought Heather might like it if we painted it and gave it to her for a thank you present.
