Katie reckoned she would be over the limit to drive us to the airport, so Bex drove us there instead although because I wasn't in charge of when I got there, it made me feel a bit nervous I would miss my flight (I don't think I have ever, or will ever again, check-in and then straight away be able to board (when final boarding's was being called!). Alice had decided to go back to Melbourne for a couple of days before meeting up with me in Sydney, so we parted ways (her flight was an hour later than mine).
It was a really nice flight over Cairns and Sydney, especially because the sky was clear enough to be able to see right down.
Beryl said she would meet me from the luggage reclaim, and so I rather nervously edged towards a woman who I thought she should look like, and she nodded her head to confirm it was her. The good thing about pretty much walking on to the plane after checking in was that my bag was one of the first to come out, so then she took me to a side street where Ian picked us up, and took us back to their house.
We had some lunch of turkey sandwiches and cranberry sauce (which I'd missed out on this Christmas!) Beryl went to take Eric to his podiatry appointment, whilst Ian took me for a drive around the Northern Beaches.
Cameron (Beryl and Ian's son), his 3 year old daughter Heidi and his girlfriends daughter from a previous relationship Fernanda came round and helped eat the BBQ of sausages, chips, and various salads including a yummy pumpkin, spinach and feta one. Heidi is very funny and told us she got her hands from Queensland. Her and Fernanda, along with Grant (Beryl and Ian's daughter Belinda's boyfriend) and Mollie (Belinda and Grant's daughter) were going to a neighbour's house as he puts an outdoor screen up on his front drive and plays a film for the neighbourhood's children to watch, and I was intrigued and thought it sounded a really nice idea, so when Beryl asked if I wanted to go I said yes. The film was called 'Epic' and I didn't really like the story but thought the animation and ideas behind the characters were good. It was quite windy but the guy who put up the cinema screen got out some blankets for some of the kids. Heidi was a bit fidgety, and when the film finished Mollie was screaming all down the road 'I don't want to go home!'
I ended up going to bed quite late as I got carried away doing all my internet-based jobs like applying for my tax refund and cancelling my English contract.
