We saw a leopard today it was amazing!!!!
We have done several game drives (this park isn't as expensive as Tanzania) We have seen almost everything, close up. The Elephants have been in the camp again several times (in the photo album all the elephants in the camp photos are at the beggining, all the rest are of eles in the park!) The leopard photo is 7th! you need to squint but hopefully J.P's photo will be clearer! and the hippos at night. We saw a big group of giraffe and zebra yesterday and we almost got trampled by the elephants as on the way out we passed two big eles by the gate and as soon as we slowed to look one turned to charge, it was then that i looked to the other side a realised the baby was on the opposite side of the road to its Mum. J.P put his foot down pretty sharpish as the Mum ran at us from the right and the baby trumpetted and ran at us from the left!!! Luckily as soon as they could see each other again all was calm! This morning after waiting twenty minutes to leave the camp as the elephants were blocking the gate (Animals have the right of way!!!) we did another game drive. We found two huge herds of buffalo (about 100 in each) and we saw a male lion sitting under a tree, he was casually yawning then roaring to himself until another roar came back so he got up and ran off! Just a few minuted later we stopped because another car was blocking the road they waved us through and we couldn't really see what they were looking at then suddenly out of the bush came a leopard!!! (they are very shy and are rarely seen!) This one was dragging an impala (buck) which was twice its size, he had it by the neck and had obviously only just killed it. He was trying to move it into a better position to get it up the tree. It was fantastic to see we were very lucky. Just off to have dinner we have met another SA/UKcouple who are doing almost the same trip but on motorbikes before they settle in Cape town. They used to live in Kingston ... small world huh!
Mum and Dad; I hope you are having fun with Tim in OZ, Julia Happy Birthday! and I will try once more with the photos before we head off to Vic falls xx
