You will have to excuse the fact that the diary is a little out of date.We don't have internet access everyday, so there will be a few days worth of stuff put on altogether each time sorryJ.
Over the past few days we have been exploring some of South Africa:
Franschoek is a quaint little village surrounded by wine farms, we stopped off at one particular farm that also currently houses a huge collection of cars dating from 1907 (approx) including an F40, F50 and an Enzo Ferrari (apparently this was very exciting!!)
Table Mountain, Cape Town; we climbed up the south side of the mountain along skeleton gorge, which as you will see from the photos is very steep, with ladders in places and follows a waterfall most of the way up.It took us three and a half hours to get from the bottom to the top and then across to the cable car on the west side.It only took about ten minutes to get down in the cable car though!Despite it being winter here it was still 24oc, too hot for you Mum, although you would have really liked the botanical gardens we walked through before reaching the base of the mountain.
Boulders Beach, Simons Town; The only place in Africa with native penguins, Heaven! The beach is so called because of all the big rocks (no really) and the penguins happily nest in the sand and along the banks under the bushes. All the chicks hatched back in March so now one parent stays with the babies at the nest and the other goes fishing. The big fluffy ones are the babies who are about 3 months old now, it takes about a year for them to lose their fluff and they won't go swimming until they do, so the parents have to keep taking it in turns to feed them.
As you all know I'm a little obsessed with penguins so there are a lot of photos, I won't be offended if you don't bother with them all ? The penguins are a little camera shy and they kept running away.
