We spent the night in the Mountain Zebra National Park, and as you can see the new tent is holding up well.We must say a big thank you to Jimmy (J.P's brother) who gave us the connection and enabled us to get this one for a great price and quickly too!THANK YOU.Jimmy also prefers the colour he seems to think that our other bright green tent was a bit garish, this nice olive green one will apparently blend in with the landscape better ? oh apart from the bright orange Landy underneath it!!!
Anyway as you can see from the photo it was another gorgeous morning, sunshine, blue sky ? it's a hard life! The views are spectacular, and we managed to see some animals, the monkeys were in the trees about 10m from our tent, they are sneaky and will happily steal anything from food to cameras so we had to keep an eye on everything! The bigger animals were always quite far from the road but I'm quite proud of a great close up of a male Ostrich, who was standing in the road and posed happily for the photos.
There is also a 4x4 only track which takes you further off the road into the park there were plenty of springbok running away from us and few more ostrich but we did come across a pair of buffalo who had obviously been fighting and unfortunately it looks like they locked horns and couldn't get apart, piercing each others necks and ended up breaking their necks. There is one photo so don't look if you might feel unhappy about it (it's the only one of any buffalo), you can't see anything gory, but I imagine it must have been quite a fight! ... This story, and a better picture than mine, made the national press apparently its very unusual for both fighters to die
