G'day!
First off all Price and i have discussed it and we are not leaving the blog so long again as he was the one who had to write about a week and a halfs worth and it nearly killed him! Anyway, on with the blog and a lot has happened since we last spoke to you all!
Picking up from when Price left off, the day after Fraser was designated a mooching day and we did just that. After a few hours on the internet (Price more than others) we went back to the hostel and kicked around for a few hours before going down to the supermarket for supplies. Running into some friends we hadn't seen since Byron we celebrated Kash's birthday with a bit more goon (oh dear lord goon, i can't wait for wine made from grapes!?) and then an earlyish night as we had to be up at 6ish the next day!
Today was a drive over to a cattle ranch, something that i had been particulary looking forward to! After stopping in Bundaberg for breakfast (particulary fine chicken and cheese toastie) we arrived in Krombit cattle station around 12.30ish. First off was lunch which was a mammoth steak. I got up first and after asking how i wanted it cook (still breathing is a cooking term apparantly) he plonked onto my plate a steak the size of a child. All for 6 dollars as well, which is about 2 quid 50! The horse riders went off after lunch so Susie, Raj, Price and I played a nice game of cricket, which turned quite serious when the staff saw what we doing. After smashing the tennis ball around for a while it was time to go to the shooting range! Never shot a gun in my life before and it was time to shoot clay pigeons. Well i stepped up first thinking i maybe able to hit one out of 5. 5 out of 5 people!? Was so shocked that i could knock clay pigeons out of the sky! Price got 3 out of 5 so i've finally beaten him at something! Anyway after the shooting it was the goat rodeo (thats right, the goat rodeo.....) where Susie, Price and I stepped up to catch, flip (they're trully mental here) and then brand (or pretend to brand) goats. Did ours in 25 seconds and all wearing plugs (flip flops/jandals/thongs) too! After Kash being chased by a goat round the ring and eventually jumping out we were then shocked with a cattle prod. After this we were shot at with a home made rocket launcher. So all good fun really! Night of Krombit we got many different soups and then beef and potatos. Then the fun began! Got to crack bull whips (like Indiana Jones) which happy to say we could both do!? Then it was a ride on the rodeo (luckily i can carry on the family line, it was a close call though, Price as well) Few more drinking games round the camp fire then bed!
Incredibly cold at 5 in the morning so i stood in the shower for about 20 minutes trying to get warm. After a breakfast of toast it was off for the stupidest longest drive! Made it all the way up to Airlie Beach (stopping for a brief game of bowles) and checked into Magnums around 6ish. Met up with two other friends, Hannah and Elly then went for a bit of a party till 2 in the morning. Price and Susie continued onto Mama Africa's till 4 but i gave in, needed to be up early to find HP7!?
Well today was a bag of mixed emotions. After the stupid witch in reception told me i couldn't find HP7 anywhere in Airlie beach i resigned myself to the fact i would have to find it after a few days. Walking down around 12ish to go get on the boat, at the marina we saw someone with the HP book!? Asking where she got it, she said the newsagent/bookstore!?!??!?! Because a bookstore won't be selling the HP book!?! I ask you! Anyway, after a bit of a debate, the legend that is Price (and Kash) legged it 2k there and back in about 10 minutes to go get the book. I was now very happy! Anyway, jumping onto the Condor, a Maxi sailing yacht, we headed out into the Whitsundays to start our 3 day sailing adventure. After a bit of a sail and then pulling into a cove we went for a snorkel which was very cool but quite cold. The stinger suits they gave us weren't the best for keeping warm in so i was quite quickly out. After a cup of tea i was onto the HP book. Can't really tell you what happened for the rest of the day as i was reading then till about 11 in the evening. However, did earn myself the nickname Harry so its all good!
Next day was an early start and after some breakfast it was the proper sailing we had been waiting for. Going along at 45 degrees with sea slapping you in the face, scrambling over the deck everytime we had to tack! Absolutely great fun. Pulled into Whitehaven beach for a bit of a walk up to the lookout and then down to the beach for a bit of a swim (only in Price's case, i'm not that stupid) Ran into some friends from NZ which was random before jumping back on the condor for more sailing! More snorkeling in the afternoon (we all stayed on the boat and lay in the sun) before more sailing! And the pulled into the same cove as the night before and settled into an evening of drink and nachos. Nicest steaks as well! Being quite well fed so its all good!
Next morning was a bit of a harder start as i had started to suffer from a chest infection/cough/thingy so wasn't feeling too ship shape (pardon the pun) Climbed out to another lookout to have a look at some art and a birds eye view of our ship before a race back into port with this other boat (pretty much 45 degrees all the way in!) Got back to the hostels and managed to find the most incompetent and snooty receptionists standing next to each other who had managed to lose our booking so asked us to pay 25 dollars to upgrade. After telling her where to stick that she then only wanted 7 dollars. Price managed to get the marketing head of palace adventures (the company we had booked with) to sort it all out so eventually we checked into a room and got a shower! I felt pretty rubbish now so went to bed for a while whilst Price read HP. Dinner of pizza and meeting some of the crew at a bar before an early bed.
Today was a bit of a drive over to Townsville (a bit of a drive is now about 4-6 hours) whilst watching HP3. Caught the ferry from Townsville over to Magnetic Island and just checked into our hostel for the next 3 nights. Only got 15 days left!? How short is that! Will be home before anyone knows it! Well thats caught us up again so you can continue to leave us messages and comments, message board has been a bit quiet for a while!
On a personal note i would just like to wish my parents a happy 25th anniversary! Very sorry i can't be there but thinking of you all!
