Hello!!!!
You have a different tour guide this time. It is me, James!! and we finally have some photos up. Firstly, thankyou all for your lovely comments. Is very nice to know that at least a few people form home are thinking about you :)
Right, yesterday: we decided to try and do some of the tours today and so started off with the one that was closed the day before, Madison Square Gardens. This was a rather good behind the scenes tour with all the trimmings, including learning how they melt down the ice for the next basketball game for instance and also a nice tour of the locker rooms where the knicks and rangers change for their games. We then went to try and do the behind the scenes tour of Radio city (where they hold award ceremonies and gigs) but found that it was closed for the day because of a graduation ceremony. So we decided then to do the NBC tour which could have been a very lucky call for us, as when we came out of the tour where we got to see the studios and the making of lots of programmes, they were handing out standby tickets to go and see Conan O'Brian live. We didnt exactly know what this would be like as neither of us has ever watched one of his shows properly but thought it might be fun so went for it. We had to queue up for ages and believe it or not...... the last 2 let in were the2 IN FRONT OF US!!!!!!! O we were enraged....... but we soon got over it and thought we had better go see something else. And that something else was a very nice cathedral right next to NBC. St patricks was its name and it was rather large and elegant which was nice.
Finally to round the day off we thought we may need some proper cheering up so we went to the M&M and Toys 'R Us stores on time square and that did indeed cheer us up. As we were walking back to the hostel after all this excitement we bumped into a few nice young gangster rappers however who asked us if we would like to buy their CD's which of course we did not and so told them this. The larger of them started to write a personalised greeting on one of the CD's however and after finally repeating that I did not want the CD he started to get slightly angry to say the least. I thought that I might have a better chance getting away by foot and so Chris and I scarpered rather quickly. No need to worry any of you though. We are fine and have learned our lesson: don't listen to rap.
We finally got home last night to the hostel and found that there were two southern guys in our room which was nice. Chris and Tj and so we have formed a little bond with them which included going out for pizza last night. brilliant
On to today: We decided to go downtown today to ellis island, Ground Zero and Liberty island with the other two. First was GZ. This was a very short stop after a VERY long walk and was sort of what we had expected; there's still a stairwell but they are mainly just clearing away rubble and sorting it out for the next thing that they are going to build there. We then went to Liberty Island on a boat (funnily enough) and it was a bit smaller than i was expecting, not taking anything away from it though it was very good to see and was a very hot if a bit windy island. Then it was Ellis Island. We went into the museum and had a look around a bit but by this time we were getting a bit tired and so the stop wasnt as long as it could have been.
Got the Ferry back then and decided it was time for some well earned food and a sit down, but before that some more walking (we are going to be soooooooo fit when we come back, just you see) to Wall Street which was good, as we saw Trump towers and the stock exchange etc. Kinda just some more tall buildings tho.(You have pictures of them all now!!!! Woooo!) Then our long walk home.
We decided to take it a bit easier tonight. Get on the internet, have a bit of a read etc, and so we have.
That is all for today I think. Iimagine Christopher will be doing the next blog as he is a slightly quicker typer than me.
Lots of Love to you all tho. hope everything is going very well for you all
Byeeeeeeeeeee
James
