This morning, UF in Rome set off for FLORENCE! We took about an hour and a half long train ride, found our beautiful hotel, Hotel Torre Guelfa, just a few blocks away from Palazzo Vecchio, then set out for a walking tour of the city! We saw the first house of the Medici family, the home of Dante Alighieri, the Duomo of the Basilica del Santa Maria di Fiori, and the statues of the Palazzo Vecchio which included Hercules, Neptune, and the fake David (the real one we see tomorrow in the Academia).
After that we all freshened up in our hotel room and went to a dinner with our entire study abroad group. The only problem with these group meals is our menu is pre selected, and while everything has been delicious I couldn't stomach what i was tricked into eating... RABBIT! I kid you not! it came out in a side by side pasta dish and we all assumed it was penne pasta with a bolognese sauce, WRONG. I already ate a few bites when one of our guides told us, but, while it wasn't bad, I couldn't think about eating another bite. Bugs Bunny! Little bunny foo foo! Peter cottontail! The bunnies I play with at Animal house when I pick up dog food! I just couldnt get those images out of my mind at all. THis incident has proven to me once again on this trip, assume absolutely nothing!!
After dinner we cleansed our bunny killing palettes with gelato then got ready to meet up with our sister Radhika that was also visiting Florence at one of the city's most fmaous clubs (well, it was mostly made famous because the cast of Jersey Shore went there, but hey). It was so fun to see her, how cool is it to connect with a sister on the other side of the globe?! We also went with two other girls from our group, Cassidy and Jordan, and had an absolute blast!! There were randomly a ton of australian teenagers, but we managed to meet a UF 2010 grad! The Gator Nation really is everywhere, even Jersey Shore Clubs in Florence!
