Semama Santa week part 2
So in previous blog I mentioned that we were off for a whole week so it's all been about exploring different areas of Antigua. Obviously I did the childrens Semana Santa parade on Monday which was just great, all the mums and grandparents were parading with us. Tuesday, me, Joelle, Sarah and Sally wnet up to Earth Lodge an eco retreat just outside of Antigua and also built round an Avacado farm. So, we had a great little cabin which 3 of us squished in and Sarah went into the dorm and basically it was a great place to relax and chill. I claimed a hammock for about 3 hours and just lay back and enjoyed the scenery which was awesome. In the evening we just had a few drinks, had a truly spectacular meal and then watched a movie and drank some more before bed. The next day was pretty much the same, pretty spectacular breakfast, meeting some great people, reading and playing boardgames. I got pretty attatched to the Earth Lodge dogs, Rufus a German Shepherd which attacked every other dog that came up and a beautiful Husky called Lola who was just the most beautiful dog I had ever seen. So we left EarthLodge and went home to chill and then Joelle and I took Sally to a newly re-opened English pub where thank god we got Fish and Chips. Proper chips no crappy fries which was heaven as I really was craving 'proper' chips and beer on tap. Thursday was just mooching around day, wasn't feeling to great so lots of trips to the pharmacies that day to perk up and the usual dragging to the internet cafe. Lots more Semana Santa parades that day so watched those going past the house. Even went to watch a couple of films during the week. On Friday it was completely chaotic with it being Good Friday. Decided to tour one of the ruined cathedrals which is only 25 percent operational, the other 75% being destroyed by Earthquakes. The rest of the week was taken up by films, processions, eating out and taking it easy.
