Hiya,
We finally made it to Kuala Lumpur, it was a looooooong journey and actually ended up taking us a day longer than intended. When we got to Hat Yai in Sourthern Thailand we had to make an emergeny stop at the hosptial as I (Louise) was covered in spots!! It was an interesting experience as I didn't speak Thai and them very little English!! The doctor diagnosed insect bites of some kind, possibly from all the Scuba Diving i'd been doing!! So i didn't pass my course and some creatures from the sea ate me!!
Still Hat Yai was ok for a night - we stayed in a guesthouse called Louise's guesthouse!! It was ok but not really much to do in the town. Next day we bought a train ticket to Kuala Lumpur it was a 15 hour overnight journey (we actually paid twice as we'd bought one the day before but had to go hospital and it took longer than we thought). Journey wasn't too bad we managed to sleep quite alot (I did especially as the doctor gave me some drugs for the spots and side effects were 'sleepy')
Kuala Lumpar is majorly different to what we've been used to. Its a massive City! We staying in Chinatown which is the cheaper part! It's nice though they have markets there where you can buy absolutely ANYTHING! This afternoon we took the monorail to the Golden Triangle area which is where the twin towers are. It was crazy busy, hundreds of restaurants, bars and best of all Shopping malls!! There are so many they are broken up into price brands - there is one with Louis Vitton, Prada, Dior & Rolex. Then others more in our price bracket! It was a fun experience though and def worth a visit if you like shopping! I also got my hair cut and highlighted for eight pounds and got myself some new glasses for 35 pounds!!
This eve we ate out at a Thai restaurant (missing our stable rice diet) but it wasn't nearly as nice as it was in Thailand, unsurprisingly. So off we trotted back to our hotel to get ready for our next journey to Singapore, we're getting the 8.30 train and its going to take until 5 to get there!! Its a day train so we won't even have beds to lay on!! Still we're looking forward to getting to Australia!
Love Lou & Dave xxx
