Hey there peopleJ
Now i am sitting at Singapore international airport. I have had three wonderful days in Singapore.
When I first got here I jumped in a cab and gave him the hotel address, he dropped me off at Fragrence hotel, surprising when I consider what I paid for the hotel.
The room was big enough, my own bathroom, also quite big, double bed, TV and air condition. The drawback at this hotel was no breakfast and no restaurant at the hotel, but food is easy enough to find in Singapore so that was no problem.
I arrived around 10-11 pm so just went to bed that night. The next morning I had to find breakfast…quickly located the nearest subway and had a great breakfast there. Then I managed to find the underground and bought a three day pass there. Then I went into the city center to start my discoveries of Singapore.
I quickly realized that this was no small city, very many people everywhere! I managed to find the orchard street which is the shopping district in Singapore, packed with malls and stores, many luxurious ones to. Then I also found the fountain of wealth in the middle of a center complex. This is the biggest fountain in the world, and there is a small fountain in the middle of the big one. If you walk around the small one with your right hand in the water you get luck for life…so of course I did thatJ
Then I also found fullerton one which was a sort of river/seaside restaurant area, had to get a cold frappuccino here after half a day in the heat..and it is very hot…around 30 degrees Celsius.
Down here they also had some statues of the Singapore Merlion, which is in their crest I think.
Then I walked across the bridge and found the Espenlade which is the theater here, and it has a special shape so it is easy to see it.
I managed to find some store here because I needed flip flops and more t-shirts in this heat, bought some great ones and it was not too pricy here eitherJ
Then I went back to the hotel to get rid of some stuff and relax for a few minutes before going out to dinner at hard rock café..quickly located Hard Rock at googlemaps, marked in to the map, left the map on the bed and left :P
When I exited the underground I realized I had left the map at the hotel so I had to try and figure out where hard rock was without the map. Not very easy when I could not remember a thing about where it is, so I started walking randomly in a direction( of course the completely wrong one) after looking for a while I asked a police officer for directions, he pointed me in the right direction and I found the caféJ
Had a great burger there and bought the mandatory hard rock café t-shirtJThen I went home to sleep.
The next day I discovered on the map that there was a island outside Singapore that had the southernmost point of the continent of Asia so I figured I would go there. This island tough turned out to be a resort paradise with many beaches and stuff to do. They were also building a universal studios theme park there. So here I found the point, went on the beach, had lunch and beer at a local café. After lunch I made my way to underwater world, apparently the rest of Singapore was going there that day so very crowded, to be honest I have never seen so many people at one place before :S they had a show there with pink dolphins that I had to see, they were just as normal dolphins but with pink parts on them. After the show I found my way up to an observation tower and took that to the top, there I got a great view of Sentosa and SingaporeJ
The next day I went to the city again and bought a hop on hop off ticket and went on two routes there, so I got a really long and detailed sightseeing of Singapore and went off at Botanic gardens and saw some flowers and trees. On the bus I met a couple from Stockholm, very lovely people, and the guy was actually studying in Brisbane, like meJ small world, he was at Griffith university though, not QUT, weird though meet Swedish people in Singapore and we talked English to each other, probably the best tough, Swedish people sometimes have problems understanding me when I speak Norwegian. After all that I had some dinner and went home.
Today I woke up, packed and checked out. Now my plane is boarding in one hour so I have to go back to Australia:D
It will be great to come down there to meet my flat matesJ then I will also get to meet Silje and Lars, two of my friends from Norway and we will take a road trip togetherJ
So until next time
