2 1/2 days later and it's my last night in Rome. So far my trip has been non-stop walking and seeing everything Rome has to offer. Yesterday we started our day off at the colosseum which was just a quick 10 minute walk from our hotel and it was awesome! So much bigger than I had imagined!! Luckily my dad had bought tickets in advanced so we didn't have to wait in the 2 hour line. After the colosseum, we went to the Roman Forum which was less than 5 minutes away from the colosseum. That again, like everything else in Rome, was beautiful. We then took a quick lunch break and actually went inside the pantheon because the day before we only saw it from the outside. Later that afternoon/night we decided to head to the Trevi Fountain! and it was a mad. house. SO many people and there was hardly any room but it was still a great time. One lady was trying to throw her coin into the fountain and completely missed. (I don't think her wish came true) Had my first taste of gelato last night and it was DELICIOUS. Oh, almost forgot, and I tried to find a straightener last night. No one knew what I was talking about until I finally found one, and it's midget size. Can't wait to try it tomorrow...!
Today we got up early to go party with the pope! (just kidding but seriously) we got on the public "Urban 62" bus which we thought was going to take us to the Vatican...20 minutes later...turns out it took us in the opposite direction so we had to get off and get on the same bus but going the opposite way/the way we came from. The 1st and 2nd bus we're night and day. The first bus was filled with men and women on their way to work and was compeltely silent. The second bus ride, a bunch of middle school Italian children on their way to school. Pure entertainment and I loved it! Finally we reached the Vatican City! And is it sad that I didn't know that it was a country of it's own? Oh well, now I know! Went inside and toured St. Peter's Basilica and then went to the Sistine Chapel! Both were unbelievable. If I really wanted to I could probably spend 3 days looking through the entire museum! Took the bus back around our hotel and ate lunch outside the pantheon again and just walked around the rest of the day. There is so much to see!
Tomorrow we're taking the train back to Florence and then I check into my apartment on wednesday!
Another observation, EVERY man here wears a scarf. American men, step your style game up a notch :)
