So I'm sorry it's been awhile since I have blogged last about my travels and life abroad, I know so many of you care! (Just kidding I know that barely anyone reads these) 2 weekends ago my roommates and I traveled 12 hours by bus north to PRAGUE in the Czech Republic! (It's beautiful, everyone should czech it out...get it? haha...) But we stayed at a nice little hostel called the Czech Inn for the weekend with the tour group Bus2alps. That Friday we got a free city tour where we got to see everything there is to see in Prague; the castle, the famous clocktower, St. Charles Bridge, the John Lennon Wall, the Kafka Museum, Old Town Square and much more! Even though it was only 10 degrees, it was till breathtaking and amazing. That night we went on a pub crawl with the rest of our tour group around Prague to 4 different pubs, nothing too special, but a good time for sure.
The next day in Prague we got another free tour of the city and had some authentic Czech food consisting of goulash and fried cheese. At night we went on a beer tour to 4 different pubs to try different Czech beers and learn about how they're made. Luckily, all of us roommates survived the beer challenge. Instead of going out, we decided to go to a relaxed restauraunt actually called "The Pub" which had an awesome and relaxed environment. We met some Danish men to share a booth with since the restaurant was packed. They seemed nice at first, but they ended up leaving early and leaving us girls to pay their tabs! Now we know to never trust Danish men... After a long 12 hours back to Florence on Sunday we were all so tired but so happy we went to Prague.
And this past weekend a few of our roommates and some of the guys who live downstairs went to Slovenia and Venice! Lake Bled, Slovenia is where we stayed and is a cute little ski/tourist town. The first day we hiked to the top of a hill where Castle Bled was and got an amazing view of the Alps and Bled. The rest of the day was relaxed as we just explored the small town. Saturday was amazing! It was my first time skiing at this resort called Vogel. Even though I made a fool out of myself falling all day long, having my first time skiing in the alps was unbelievable. That night was ridiculous, Slovenia was celebrating Italy's carnival so it was a huge halloween party at the bar we went to. All of us American's clearly stood out since we missed the memo on the costumes..oh well!
Heading out of Slovenia we stopped in Venice to celebrate the carnival! Colorful masks, loud music and the beautiful canals definitely made the stop in Venice worth it.
Besides that there's nothing too new in my life here in Florence. I got a 98% on my first Italian test so that's pretty exciting! And I have Nyobi staying with me for a week here so things can only get crazier/better from here on out :)
