Quite another long post...these weekend trips catch up with me. I need to preface this with if you are a family member who doesn't want to read about escapades in Ireland, the beginning of this will be about that. I need to record the events of Thursday evening for my own diary but feel free to skip to Saturday if you will.
Thurday night: Our only night in Galway began with our group visitng Tim's girlfriend, MaryLiz and her friends to play some drinking games before going out. Jess, Ellen, Kristy, Chrissy, and I left early to go to the Celler to meet the Matt, Liz, Paul, and Katherine. On the way they kept drinking, I did not. But we ran into Brother Kelly and Craig on the street where we had stopped to finish 2 bottles of wine. My favorite moment of the awkward encounter was when we asked Brother Kelly where Dr. Mangiero was and he said, "in bed, where all good Christians should be." Little did we know, that BK himself went on to get plastered on whiskey that night. So we headed on towards the celler. Where Ellen was attacked by this random guy and Jess saved her. The evening gets more and more hazy from there. I do remember that baby guinesses taste like chocolate.
Friday morning 5:30 am: I woke up with a migraine because 4 hours of sleep, dehydration, alcohol, and fast food at 2 am lead to headaches. I threw up until someone called from BK at 8am. I don't have anything to say about Friday because I slept in the back of the bus and didn't so much as look out the windows at the coral beach or connamara. Friday night, we stayed in Doolin, a little town with a hostel, a few pubs, and some sheep.
Saturday: I was feeling much better and was glad to be back with the group. We began the day at the Cliffs of Moher. I was shocked there wasn't more security because a murder/suicide was commited only a week ago. But they were beautiful, it was a little foggy, the only bad weather of the weekend though. It was still gorgeous. We saw the Allwee cave and climbed the mountain. The view from the mountain was so pretty, we could see Galway Bay to one side and the countryside to the other.
I'm off to class but will continue with the blogging later today
