Hi all, my apologise i am bad at this, but please be reassured i have an excellent hand written journal!just a shame you guys cant read it, but i have a new system (you´d like this one keith!) I have decided a much better way would be to write from todays date, then update the rest when i find the chance!better...???I think so!
So here goes it, today!
Ok we woke up today from our sleepy slumber in our cosy dorm room in La Serena. After a day of chilling out yesterday i felt like we were obliged to do something more of our time in chile. So, we chomped down our free brekkie and got ready for our day out, we began by heading for the tur bus office to book our ticket to santiago later in the week but unfortunately the ´system was down´. So no tickets, plan B, the beach! We ended up passing by this cute little craft market, and the inevitable happened, i got sucked into a silver jewellery stand, and ended up buying this chilean quartz pendant!Damn it, Im so weak when it comes to jewellery! Its nice though so i´m happy! After the brief jewellery buying incident we mosied on down to the beach which really was not at all close to the town! I had definately chosen the wrong footware and my sling back haviannas caused me a certain level of discomfort! I´m not sure what was up with me today but i also succumed to a street seller and bought a huge bag of strawberries, they are lovely but way more than i can eat in two days - without dia results! We finally arrived at the beach and it was not as the guide book had painted the picture. A beach it was, pituresque it was not. Never the less we stayed and perched ourselfs on the sand to spend a couple of hours reading our books. It was good just to be outside in the fresh air! And, every five mins or so the sun came out, when it was hot it was lovely! We headed back to the hostel around 4ish, somehow the walk back seemed miles shorter. We also managed to get into the tur bus office and book our tickets to santiago, 7hr bus on thursday at 11.30. I am starting to quite like the bus journies, we now have a good nack of picking the best seats so usually are quite comfy with a good view! A skill i imagine will be priceless!
This evening we made an asparagas rissotto, yummmmm! it was probably one of the best meals we have eaten yet! tres bien! With some chilean wine of course! Of which a guy from texas called josh has bought us a second in order to bribe us to stay up untill 1 with him as he made a bad decision and booked a bus leaving at 1.30 am! Im flagging already, getting the sleepy effect not the awake one!
Wish me luck!
