Hello everyone! We made it to Madrid! NO flight problems, so that was a great way to start this trip! Madrid is really beautiful - Courtney and I fought jet lag today and spent the afternoon walking some of the main streets through downtown, and we finally settled at a really pretty park, sat in the grass, and watched street performers.

Our first hostel experience has been a pleasant one - Los Amigos Sol is located in the center of the city and is clean and safe. We are sleeping in bunk beds (I am on top, so hopefully I wont fall on Courtney in the middle of night)! We are sharing a bathroom with only two other people, so I have not had to confront my issues with community baths just yet! :)

The language barrier has proven to be a bit of a challenge. So far, the locals have not been too willing to speak English (or they simply do not know it), but we are working on it. Looks like 8 years of Latin may not have been such a smart idea after all - I am wishing I could speak something, ANYTHING, at the moment!

Tomorrow we will continue our adventures and really begin exploring the city of Madrid. We are planning on visiting a few museums and a popular park. May even take a double-decker bus tour!

I will write again tomorrow and hopefully have more to share. For now, we are going to sleep and adjust to this new time zone! Until the next time....
