hey
well its been a little while since i did this!
After phnom pehn we went to sihanoukville and stayed there for one night! on the day we got there we went straight to the beach and had some lunch there and then went back and left all our things in the room and went back to the beach, where i had a manicure and pedicure done - which was nice!! they wanted to give ian a pedicure as well he thought it was a foot massage so was going to say yes until he realised what it actually was!! they also wanted to do threading on the hair on his back which is where they pull the hair out one strand at a time using bits of cotton!! but he wouldnt!
Then next day we got the boat to bamboo island! was a little scary but not too bad as boat quite small and loads of people and kept leaning over so only about an inch from the top of the side of the boat to the water!! finally got to bamboo island which was very nice and peaceful and room ok although squat toilets!
But as we were sitting reading on the bed on the first night i saw movement out of the corner of my eye and when i looked there was a rat running across the floor and squeezing out under the door! not nice! so whenever heard noise kept waking up and shinning torch around looking for it again! as only electric from 6-11pm!
Then next day just chilled out again not doing much - laying in hammock on balcony, which was right on the beach with lovely views! then that afternoon we found rat s*** on the bed with all our things on! so i said something to the man at the bar and he set up a rat trap for us!! then as we were sitting on the bed reading the rat ran across the bed towards the trap! so we was watching it pick rice off the trap then the trap went off! and the rat stopped moving so we thought it was dead! ian was just about to go and tell the man when it got out somehow and disappeared so we went and told him and he set the trap again and said we could change bungalows if we wanted to! so we went to look at the other bungalow and decided the rat was prob injured and prob wouldnt come back but when we got back to the room less than 5 mins later i looked through a crack in the door and it was sitting on the bed eating rice again!!! so we moved.
Stayed there three nights in all and didnt end up sleeping too well! then got the boat back! ian was stressing as there was a big storm and he couldnt believe the boat was going but it died down and we ended up not getting wet at all! when got back to the beach we tried to get a tuk tuk but they said a quite expensive price as just around the corner so ian got in a strop and decided we should walk even though bags heavy! so we ended up walking just to save 3 dollars!! lol!
Then stayed there one night had dinner on the beach which was lovely had bbq prawns which were very nice! then got bus to bangkok the next day! bus to border and border crossing were fine but after border we had to change bus about 4 times which was very annoying and they put my bag on the roof even though was obvious it would rain but promised if rained would put inside and 5 mins after leaving started to rain so they put inside so was ok!
the first day we were in bangkok we went to the indian embassy to sort out visas and as we got there i realised i forgot my photos so had to walk all the way down the road to get photos then got to embassy and they said they have a visa application centre in the next road so had to go all the way back again!! not fun! then went to MBK which is a massive shopping centre and had greek for dinner! lol!
then next day we just walked around the shops on kaho san road which was nice!
then weds ians mum and dad arrived so we went to hotel where we were staying with them and checked in then went to meet them at the airport! although that wasnt as easy as it sounds as for arrivals you have to stand in a certain place where every1 comes out unless they have booked a taxi when it is a different place which we couldnt get to so ended up standing one floor up and leaning over the railings shouting down to them as they walked through! but finally met them! and ended up in a taxi back with one of the suitcases on our laps!
Hotel was amazing v posh def the poshest hotel ive ever been to they even come in in the evening and set slippers out for you next to the bed and an orchid on the pillow! that afternoon we took them for a look around MBK and had dinner there though thai this time!
first day with chris and steve we went to the grand palace and temple of the emerald buddha then on to wat po where the massive gold reclining buddha is!! even though as we were getting ready to leave steve asked when we were going to see the emerald buddha lol he didnt realise we had already seen it! then we went back to the pool in the afternoon!
The next day we spent the whole day out as we did a coach trip to the bridge over the river kwai and death railway! went to the museum first then the war cemetry then did a 2 hour train journey over the bridge and along the railway! although me and ian were youngest by about 40 years and had a thai buffet for lunch even though most people just seemed to eat fruit lol but was very nice! then went back for a walk over the bridge then headed back to bangkok although traffic was v busy so took ages! and had a v nice dinner in the hotel at about 10pm after chris and steve had finally managed to sort out the pre check in for their cruise and i was up until 4.30 that morning putting all our photos onto cds!
then chris and steve left the next morning and we left the hotel and came to a guesthouse!! although we decided to stay in a nicer guesthouse as had to wait for visas because india had two public hols last week so took ages! so stayed in a guesthouse with a roof top swimming pool!
On sunday we went to the weekend market which was good! such a shame u missed it chris as had loads of unusual shoes!! market was massive! and got sky train there!
Then monday spent day by pool! then today went to MBK and changed one of DVD's that didnt work then got skytrain to embassy and got passport then booked train tickets so getting night train to nong kai tomorrow which is on laos border!!
Bye xxx
