Murray and I had a great sleep and breakfast with lots of items offered that we recognized and some we didn't. I got the suitcases unpacked and made some order out of the chaos. We went for a walk this morning and after taking a waypoint on my GPS of the hotel location I felt confident that I could return us safely to the hotel - and it worked. Explored the area and it was a good day to do that as it was the Thanksgiving holiday and the streets were almost empty and the shops were closed. Tomorrow will be a different story with crowds of people oin the streets. Our first impression was how clean the city is and also the subways - no trash or even a piece of paper to be found. I can't imagine how they keep ahead of that. K. met us at the hotel at noon and we took the subway to downtown Seoul. Purchased bus tour tickets and our first stop was Deoksu Palace which was built in 1567. It served as the kings residence and in later years it became the residence of the Emperors until 1919. We were fortunate enough to arrive in time to see the changing of the guards at the palace - a very ancient ceremony and very colourful. Next stop was the Seoul Tower, the highest accessible point in Seoul. Hoped to go up the tower, but alas the line up was too long. Our last stop was at the Presidential Palace, which you could only look at from a lovely park across the street. Lots of security there! After dinner we made our way back to our hotel and we're glad to put up our feet and relax at the end of a very interesting day.
