Just got back from the canoe trip, It was amazing! We saw about 400 hippos, 10 crocs and about 30 elephants in a 50km stretch along the river. Wednesday morning we awoke to an elephant touching the top of our tent with his trunk. He then stood at the back of our tent whilst we had breakfast and brushed our teeth. We had a couple of close calls along the way. One hippo came swimming after us and we had to paddle fast to get away. The other scary moment was paddling 200mt along a stretch of the river, 15mt away from 20 hippos spread out in a line. It was VERY scary! Our other highlight was swimming in the river, even though we had passed some crocs a little while back! On our last night at the campsite that we were sharing with the elephant, we could hear another group of elephants, two very close hippos and a pride of lions roaring throughout the night. It was amazing!
