Hello Everyone. We hope that you are all well and happy. We are well and are currently enjoying some down time in Bariloche. We spent last week finishing off in El Calafate and headed to El Chalten. El Chalten is a tiny town that is famous for its many mountain treks, which are all free which is fantastic for us! We arrived in the morning and didn't know what we had gotten ourselves in for. It was freezing, wind was howling and you couldn't see the mountains. Checked in and then went straight to a camping store to hire some wind/rain jackets. We decided that we would do the Fitzroy mountain trek first and then laguna torre the following day. We woke up and the weather was perfect! Not a cloud in the sky and the wind had stopped. The view was amazing from the top of the walk. Claire stayed at the top and i walked down to the frozen lake and around the corner to another lake. Unbelievable. Topped off by the final part of the trek being through snow. It was a long day took us about 8 hours and only realised after that it is about 25ks. Claire was knackered by the end of it but did very well. I did the Laguna Torre trek the following day (another 25kms or so) but left Claire to rest up at the hostel. This trek finished with a beautiful view of a glacier overlooking a lake with icebergs in it.
From there we took a VERY long, 22hr bus trip to Bariloche. It left at around 3am in the morning and arrived in Bariloche at 1am the following day. We were entertained by some very interesting movie choices: Die Hard 5, the next one about a loyal dog and then a C grade movie about Orcs that take over a national park. We were lucky as the bus was only half full so we managed to get plenty of space and able to lounge across a few seats and get some sleep.
We have taken it easy first few days here in bariloche as we are here for about a week. We have managed to rent an apartment pretty cheaply for 5 nights, which is great as we have done nothing but dorm rooms for 2 and a bit weeks. We are planning to take a bike tour around the famous circuito Chico which is a 27k road around Lago Moreno, a day kayak on Lago Gutierrez which is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and looking to finish it off with a few free treks.
Claire and I have made a trade off, she is able to buy a pair of shoes and whilst she does that, I can play a round of golf at one of the courses. Fair trade in my book............

Windy Super Kev, you are so lucky my friend. I just cannot believe it. I think some people would cut an arm off for what you guys have experienced. I mean, seriously, to have got to seen Die Hard 5. Unbelievably lucky, I bet you have to pinch yourselves sometimes.............
