I am currently reconsidering my future. Do I really want to study development related health? OR shall I become a famous chef specialising in masala chai, kadhai paneer and chapatis... OR shall I become a elephant tamer or maybe a camel jockey? Ahhhh so many new choices!
With only one more day left in India my time here is going scarily fast. Make it slow down, someone, please! Udaipur has been awesome. Its hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that makes me love it here so much. I think a combination of the peaceful lake (even if its dried up) setting, the cruisy atmosphere, recognising people on the street (the benefits of spending long times in small towns), meeting lovely people and just for mum - the general VIBE of the place.
For me a highlight of the whole trip would have to be our camel riding. It was absolutely hilarious. Now, Liv may say that I was a smidgen terrified. But in my defense, my camel was quite a decent bit bigger than hers so I was even further off the ground! But then again, her one was mooing (do camels moo?) as she was getting on... It wasn't exactly the riding through the orange desert that I had imagined in terms of scenery but at least the road was bordering a lake (one with water this time) and we were entertained by counting the number of photos that total strangers took of us. Getting on and off was pretty weird with the camel having to totally kneel down but the long relaxed gait was almost enough to tempt me to traitor horse riding!
Also up there was the look on Liv's face when she patted Matu - the elephant that we have seen casually strolling through the main streets of Udaipur was priceless. He was pretty hairy, colourfully painted, very wrinkly and had the wisest eyes I have seen since the gorillas in Rwanda. Sadly, even my quite impressive packing skills couldn't get him into my bag!
This mornings cooking course was the final things to tick off on our Indian to do list. We learnt; the art of making masala chai (honestly the tastiest tea ever), how to differentiate between all the spices and what they are used for, how to roll and cook chapatis, why biryani rice is yellow and how to contain laughter when the instructor had a rather amusing lecture like manner of speech.
Off on a overnight bus tonight which will be an experience. This one has beds which I am struggling to imagine, but "one must always grab the opportunities" don't they? We then have one day in Mumbai before I leave which we plan to spend enthralled in a Bollywood film - can't wait! The final leg of the journey is 24 hours in Singapore... hmm yes "why?" I hear you ask... not my greatest plan of all time I admit but maybe there will be some more 'German' dancing to entertain me at the airport.
Lastly - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my big sister Alice! 21!!! Wahooooo! How ancient, pretty much an antique... (also makes it quite terrifying as I now realise that I leave my teens this year!) For someone who is only 21 she is quite a legend - very inspiring as an older sister and a person in many many ways. LOVE YOU ALLY !!! XX
