So we had a pretty early start today as we had to get from Coober Pedy to Uluru in time for sunset and this is about a 700km drive which u can imagine would take a while! We got there just in time for sunset so we all grabbed our alcohol and headed to the lookout at our campsite for our first sunset at Uluru. Its awesome actually seeing Uluru in real life and it really does look an amazing red colour at sunset, u can actually see it changing colour as the sun goes down! So after the sun had set and probably a while after that when we'd finished drinkin and talkin we headed back down to set up our camp.
So we started by setting up the camp fire in the middle and then put our swag round it in a circle. Now for those of u who dont know what swags r they kind of look like sleeping bags, but they r make of canvas, hav a wee foam mattress in them and u put ur sleepin bag inside it. We also had a wee "kitchen" area with a big table for us. So we all pitched in helpin cook dinner but at one point me and Laura noticed the fire was dyin down a bit so we figured we'd go and put some more wood on the fire. We totally thought we were being proper manly toppin up the wood however then Derek came over and threw a big log on the fire makin us feel not quite so manly :(
Now i must admit later when were were all heading to our beds i was a little bit nervous about sleeping under the stars! I mean wot if a spider or a snake crawled into my swag or a dingo appreared, its not like u can get out of these things very fast! And i was also worried about being cold so i had me jammies on with me joggies, a hoodie and a scarf on just in case lol! However it was actually awesome sleepin under the stars, i cant beleive how clear the stars were and we could see the southern cross which was the 1st time i've seen that! It was also surprisingly warm in the swag, i slept really well and didnt even get killed by any weird animals!!
