Kirsty's Travels
Oh my gosh what a day!!!!!
I did my first days apple picking today and i can honestly say i have never worked so hard in my life!!!! Every square inch of me that isnt covered in scratches and bruises aches like nothing else! But actually it was still a fantastic experience. All they guys in charge were lovely and full of encouragement and it was quite amazing to be up a high ladder with incredible views surrounding me.
I started work at 7:30 am! They drove me out to my pitch, gave me this huge bucket thing which i strapped to my front and then showed me the crate i needed to fill. The crates are enormous and it takes hundreds of buckets to fill them! But you get 27 dollars for every crate you fill and i managed to almost fill four which i was quite pleased about. Hamish, the guy who was overseeing everything said that thats really good for the first time.
I've decided to stick it out till the end of the week if the weather holds up as we have had a couple of thunder storms. I know that i would not be physically able to do it for much longer than that. Tim Yorke who is the big boss has said that he can easily get me a place in the packing department so i think i'll take him up on that as from next monday. Only for a couple of weeks though. The good thing is they have on site accomodation there and its comfortable and really cheap so i shall be leaving Rosemary and Max's at the weekend. They have been so good to me. I hadn't intended on staying this long but they assure me that they are happy with it which is wonderful of them. I had a long soak in the bath as soon as i got home and Rosemary is just cooking lasagne for dinner which im sure will be delicious as all her cooking is. I intend to do very little this evening as i can hardly move! Im dreading to think how im going to feel tomorrow but i'll get through it!
Anyway id better go dont want to bore you all too much. Love you loads
