Kirsty's Travels
Hi Everyone
I have just gotten back from Waiheke island where i spent the weekend. It was so brilliant! I took the ferry across on saturday morning. When i got there i decided to do a bus tour so i could see what the island had to offer. It was absolutley lovely. The island is stunning and we stopped along the way to take loads of pictures and visit the beach for what was one of the nicest hokey pokey ice creams ever!!! I met a few peeps there and in the evening we all went and had a fish and chips feast with Calamari, Oysters, Mussels and all sorts of other things which were delicious!!! Since i've been travelling i have become a major fan of all things seafood! M&D Bet u r surprised! You would be shocked at some of the things ive tried and liked! After fish and chips we went to this Irish bar called Molly Malones and there was a live act on which was pretty good.
On sunday i went to Taz's Friend Helens house and spent the day with her and her Husband Alistair and daughters kieran and Anna. We had a picnic on the beach which was really nice and then they dropped me off at this music museum which was brilliant! The owners gave us a guided tour around all the wonderful instruments and they played every single one of them. Not only that they restored most of them themselves! The highlight though had to be seeing Paderewski's (Also called the kind of the piano) 9ft Grand piano and actually getting to play it! The piano dates back to 1897 and had been perfectly restored. One of the great things about the museum is that the owners let you play any instrument you wish. As well as the piano i played Pachebel's Canon on a Harpsichord which was good fun as the piece was originally composed for the harpsichord! All in all it was a fabulous experience and to top it all off there just so happened to be a concert pianist in the audience so i got to listen to him play Maple leaf Rag (how it should sound!) and Rhapsody in Blue and some other classics. He was awesome and totally put me to shame! Then Helen picked me up and we went back to their place for a lovely dinner and i stayed the night which was really nice. The girls are fab and i had a real giggle with them all. There will be lots more photos up very soon as i have filled my camera once again.
I have a flight to Wellington booked for wednesday and im gonna just spend a couple of days there before getting the ferry to Picton which is the start of the South Island. I decided that im going to do the Kiwi experience (hop on hop off bus) around the South Island as it is definitely the best way to travel and really see all the hot spots.
Anyway i had best get going as i have lots to get sorted before wednesday. I love you all very much. Keep in touch
Kirsty xxxx
