Norway - Day one
The scenery in Norway is spectacular. We have driven some tiny steep roads today, but wow what a view.
The scenery changed from forests and cliff faces to rocky mountainous ranges with tufts of grass and white, fluffy looking wild flowers. The landscape was dotted with sheep, all wondering free and munching on the grass. We kept driving up and up and up and reached 930m above sea level. Then we started driving down. Nelly looked like we were driving over ourselves end the road twisted and turned back on itself. The cliffs were sheer drops and a few times we gasped at the drop away.
After a big long tunnel we popped out not too far from the ferry.
The ferry down the fjord was again spectacular. The water was a beautiful turquoise with rock faces that touched the sky. One of the scariest things was when the ferry paused near Prekestolen aka the Pulpit....a 25m x 25m cliff that juts out from the edge. Some of you may have seen Jeremy sitting on the edge of it. From where we were it was 800m up.
Why we or rather I freaked out was because we are supposed to be climbing it tomorrow morning.
We have a cosy caravan for the night, we'll be a little on top of each other but it is a place to sleep.
Hopefully I'll have enough energy left tomorrow to post and I can tell you all whether we made it or not.
Until then...
