Lazaro and I have had a busy travel day...and we aren't finished yet. We started off this morning with a 4:15am taxis ride to the airport. This was followed by a 6:00 am flight to Austin by way of Atlanta. We then took the Austin city bus to Greyhound station (this is where we are now) for Laredo.
So far we have witnessed the Christmas spirit in full force. While on the Austin city bus several of the passengers were very concerned about our ability to find the right stop (and thus very helpful and friendly. (For the record we did know what we were doing but it was nice to get verification). Then we met a guy at the greyhound station that was very pleasant to talk to. He is currently living with his wife in France but came back to Texas to visit with his family.
I was able to help spread some Christmas cheer as well today. While in Raleigh a lady with her husband started looking around because a handle on her purse broke. After looking around in vain for the missing piece, and failed Mcgyver-esc attempt by her husband to fix it--- I remembered that I had a needle and thread in my bag. The lady was very happy that she was able to fix her purse.
We are sure that these will be the first of many positive encounters we have on this trip!
