Seb sadly left and we decided that we needed to get out of Lima and FAST! so at about midday me and matt booked a bus to Mancora a small fishing village north of lima for that afternoon. neither of us was much looking forward to the 18 hour bus ride (i think matt more than me cos i was sorta used to it by here) but we boarded it and it didnt go too bad. movies with english subtitles and a few hours sleep later and we woke at about 7am to arrive in Mancora at 830am.... to a beautiful town with amazing weather!
we boarded our funny little tuk tuk thing (which they have in the amazon too) and it drove us the 5km to our hotel i had booked - mancora beach bungalows. it was AWESOME! we had our own little room with a view to the beach and the pool. we were also about 5km out of town so there wasnt alot of people or noise which was an amazing relief after lima. they let us check in as soon as we got there too and we didnt have to wait until 1pm to do it which was GREAT!
we spent the next 4 days chilling out on our room´s balcony or on the hammock which was ours, on the couch out the front of our room drinking our cocktails which javier the waiter made and brought to our room. we had a fridge in our room to keep all our goodies like our own scotch and cokes mmmmmmmmm and eating the AMAZING seafood dishes at the hotel´s restaurant! we loved this place soooo much. i loved the Fillete de la macho i think it was called, which was fish in a seafood sauce with prawns, squid etc etc... woooohooooo. loved it.
we also spent our time just chilling and checking out the water... to our amazement there were these birds who in flocks of hundreds sometimes would fly then suddenly dive straight into the water... into schools of fish we assume... it was just amazing to see. we also saw about 10 whales over the 4 days in the ocean, we saw at least 2 seals, lots of vultures... MASSES of huge crabs just crusiing around on the beach, and so many other things im sure i will forget it. the wildlife there was amazing and we both said we were glad to have gone now before the place is overrun with tourists and this amazing wildlife is no longer there.
we watched the sun set every night and it only took about 1 minute to set from above the water to below the horizon... i could never believe how quickly it set!
on our firs full day we hired horses on the beach (which we later found out was illegal haha) and we cruised along for a while. the funniest thing ever was the three little boys doing the hiring of the horses and the three of them sat on the horse together and tried to push each other off while they were riding along! funny stuff. i had enough after a trot and matt headed off for 5 minutes to (hmmmmm wish i knew the terminology) but go REALLY FAST haha with the horses with two of the boys... they went so fast along the beach it was amazing to see.. the boys loved that matt was so into horses too it was great to see.
on our last full day there we walked into town along the beach so it probably took us a good hour and we found the surf beach which i had a little go at... full of rocks though which wasnt too much fun so i didnt stay in for too long, great to have surfed in another country though!
not much else happened which was of huge significance. the staff gave me a tshirt as a present when we left so that was cool.. nice to have something to look back on and great to know they loved having us there too! it was so good to have a place to crash, an amzing room... and just chill out for a few days. i wish we didnt have to leave but its better to leave when things are great than want to leave... so we are now back in lima trying to work out our next steps! about 7 days and we will be leaving for mexico! cant wait but at the same time i will nearly cry to leave here when i have been here for so long, and to go to mexico means im on my way home which i dont want to be yet. i feel like my holiday with matt has only just begun and i just wish we had longer! i think every day though how hard i have worked to get here and do this now... and if i was to do this more often or it was easier.. it might not mean as much to me now.
for what is to come... im not really sure... but i know that whatever it is will be amazing...
