We left Pakse, and Laos for Thailand the last time I wrote. Not that much has happened since, but I just wanted to update while we are still in Thailand. Tomorrow we go to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
A three hour bus ride over to Thailand, and then we got on the night train to Bangkok, from Ubon. We were the only white people on the whole train, so we were the entertainment for a while. The train was quite shabby, so tourists probably usually go first class. But we loved it! It was the most comfortable bed we've had in ages! The beds in Laos are so incredibly hard, and the bed train was nice and soft. If it wasn't for all the noise, I think we would've slept really well! Hehe.
Arrived in Bangkok yesterday morning, staying in a hotel near the backpacker district, nothing has really changed since I was here 6 and a half years ago. After the necessary shower and breakfast yesterday, we spent the day walking down Kao San road, which is the ultimate tourist/backpacker trap of Asia. We were fooled into buying some cheap t-shirts, and sunglasses, and just now, and new pair of flip-flops. Well, it's so cheap, so it's difficult not to! We are staying in a hotel with a rooftop swimming pool, so we've spent today tanning by the pool, which was nice and relaxing.
Kuala Lumpur tomorrow already, as we're having some changes in the plans. Maiken is going home earlier than planned, and I will be going to Australia next Wednesday. In one week I will be in Australia, that is kinda weird to think about, but of course I am happy to see Bobby again sooner than I thought. It's been 3 months already, and that is long enough! So Kuala Lumpur is our last stop on this journey. But I'm sure there will be another journey not so far from now! J
