Back to Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia. I think I have lost count of how many times I have been to this city, I just always seem to end up here. And I love it, I do love this city. It is safe and modern, and has everything, although sometimes I think it is a bit too much Americanized. They do love their Starbucks, KFC and McDonald’s!
Arrived here on Friday night, and went straight to my favourite hotel, Seasons View. I always stay here, I recognize the staff by now, hehe. Luckily they had a room for us. We’d tried to book ahead online, but it was full. We decided to take the chance anyways, and took a taxi here to see whether they had anything for us, and they did!
Our first two days here, have consisted of shopping. I usually never go shopping at home, but in Kuala Lumpur, you just have to! On Saturday we went to Pavillion, a more upscale shopping centre, bought a new bikini, and two pairs of shorts. In the evening we went to the movies. So many people out in Kuala Lumpur on a Saturday night! We stood in line for 30 minutes just to buy the movie tickets! I don’t think I could ever live in a big city like this! Sunday, we went to the Petronas Towers, the second tallest building in the world. Took a look around, then went to Sungei Wang mall, which has a whole theme park inside of it! That’s a cheap mall, and most shops don’t have anything above 30 Ringgit (45 kroner), so it’s easy to get carried away. Most clothes are very small though, as the Asian girls are very tiny, so we feel fat in comparison, and it doesn’t help that people in the shops look at you and just say “Uhm, no, you can not try this on, we think it is too small for you!”. Haha! Therefore, not so much shopping after all. Although I dared to buy two cheap dresses and one top, and they all fit me! (Well, one of the dresses takes a loong time to take on and off, but it still fits!)
Monday, we went to a theme park near Kuala Lumpur, called Sunway Lagoon. From what I had read online, it seemed like a massive park, which had 5 different theme parks in it (Africa Park, Extreme Park etc.) When we got there, we were not so impressed. The whole park was really quite small, and the Western park was almost all under construction, while the Extreme Park was really not extreme at all. It seems like Asians are a lot easier frightened than us, they scream at everything! Still, we did manage to spend 6 hours there, and the zoo was the best part of it.
Yesterday was our last day of the trip. It’s weird to know that it suddenly is all over already, and that I am supposed to start my new life in Australia. I was not happy when I saw the weather forecast for Hobart on Saturday is 9 degrees and rain! I am going to Australia for God’s sake! Eww… hope the summer arrives there soon! I will of course continue to update from Australia, and hopefully things will turn out good there! But this is my last entry as a traveler…. for now!
