Kim's Travels
Today, we decided to take a trip to see the big Buddha in Asia in Teung Cheung. It was an absolutley magnificent sight; so so huge. I was shocked when I turned around to see it. He was so high up that sometimes you couldnt see him as he was covered by clouds. I took loads of what I hope will be stunning photos of him and the hundreds of steps leading up to it! Also here there were other little places of worship, one where we "bathed the buddha" an act to rid oneself of sins and suffering - very spiritual! We spend quite a while up here admiring the view as it was just so imense; we were so high up! I brought an authentic hat and some insence for mum and we caught the bus back for the rickety journey home down the mountain! After this we got the tube back to Mong Kok, got lost (first time!) going down Nathan Road as we wanted to see the laser lights from the Bank of China, but we missed it by a few minutes as we had to shelter our selves from the tretcherous rain that was pouring down! We thought we'd pop along to see the avenue of the stars but the rain STILL didnt stop so we gave into our western ways and took shelter in the Pacific Coffee Company (their version of starbucks) and Tom had a panini. We sat in there for nearly four hours waiting for the rain to go. Once we thought it had died down we went out again only to get soaked through! The rain kept going through the night and has been going for well over 12 hours now. Well tomorrow's our last day and we're going to spend it at the market and then see Dad's friend Nobihuko as he invited us over to his house for dinner. Speak soon... Love.
