Louvre
We've been past the Louvre several times this week and have seen the iconic pyramid on our way to another stop. Today however was all about the Louvre as our last item to be ticked in Paris (except for Disneyland which Sarah is mentioning about 4 times an hour!)
We entered near the large Pyramid and skipped the queue once again - it's as simple as buying a ticket before you get there - why don't more people do this??
Once inside, we were greeted by a huge light filled hall with galleries to three sides. We made our way through grecian and italian sculpture and some paintings before cutting to the chase and making for the Italian painters - you all know who we're here to see!
The crowd pretty much told us when we'd arrived at Mona's place. Lots of people, lots of jockeying for position and everyone trying to get a shot. So, what did I think of the most famous painting in the world? It was classical that's for sure, but to be honest, some of the other works I'd seen on the way were more intersting to me. It wasn't until after we'd left that I realised that the pictures we took were not great due to the glass protection!
We stopped by and looked at Venus di Milo on the way out and came to the conclusion that as well as not being museum people, we may also not be gallery people either. As uncultured as we are, there was lots to see and the Louvre clearly has a magnificent way of displaying their works.
