Disneyland - The Happiest Place on Earth!
The train ride to Disneyland was quick and uneventful and there was a shuttle bus waiting for us when we arrived although it did take all our willpower not to pop into the park as the train station is right next door.
The bright purple shuttle bus dropped us off at the hotel and we checked in to the family circus room. Not sure how you'd fit a family into the room but it was more than comfortable for us.
In about 15 minutes flat we were ready for the park. Bright purple bus again and in 5 minutes we were deciding which entrance to use. Have to say I was beside myself with excitement and Sarah was pretty buzzed too!
Walking into the park, we were overwhelmed by how many colours and things to look at there were! 20th Anniversary stuff was everywhere and the party was in full swing. We made our way to Fantasyland and walked around in the magical Sleeping Beauty castle and got lost in the Alice in Wonderland maze (twice) before our first ride on the tea cups (and the first queue of the day). Heaps of fun!!! We continued to wander the park and bought and looked until we were exhausted. Bright purple bus took us back for a little rest at the hotel.
Later that day we ventured back knowing it was our last visit. We had a lovely lunch and hit the teacups again as well as the Dumbo ride which was a bit scary you got so high up!
The parade started at 7pm and we were sure to get a seat early enough to get a good view. Couldn't believe the shameless pushing in that went on but we stood our ground and got a brilliant view of the whole parade. More exploring and by 10pm we'd shopped up another storm (not sure where we're going to put everything) and were ready for the second parade - the fantillusion parade. Lots of lights and another great parade and we were flagging fast - approaching 9 hours at the park in total!
The final spectacle of the night was the Disney dreams where they use lasers and project on the castle and on mist from the many fountains in the park as well as a huge firework show. It was actually brilliant and very cleverly done. The day was a very long one though and we hobbled back for our last ride of the day on the purple shuttle bus (with about a thousand other people). Fell into bed and asleep - had the best day at the happiest place on earth!
The next morning saw us take a really quick breakfast before heading off for the trek across France to get to our last Olympic event.
