Hey all!
Well got good internet for the first time-been on for almost 3 hours already due to skype so don't worry folks blog won't be as long as usual! haha! So we arrived last Monday morning earlier than planned as we were able to get an earlier flight out of Heathrow-Terminal 5 is pretty amazing! On Monday we ended up booking all our accommodation and transport up to Johannesburg due to fact the cricket is on and it was peak season so everything was booking up fast. Tuesday decided to be the first of the hot days to come at 36C! We walked through "the Company's Garden" and around the centre of Cape Town. We then took the Cable Car up Table Mountain which gives you fantastic views over the whole of Cape Town. They are just putting on the finishing touches to a stadium to be used for one of the semi-finals for the World Cup. Its World Cup fever over here with all companies wanting to get in on sponsoring it. Wednesday we went on a Day tour of the Cape peninsula-which turned out to be a mini safari with first of seeing lots of wild seals, then baby penguins followed by the prospect of seeing baboon-unfortunately we didn't get to see them though! We went to Cape Point-6km of it cycling in the heat! It is the most southern part of Africa. Then also to the Cape of Good Hope - the most South western part. We had dinner that night in the winner of the Best Steakhouse Award in South Africa (for the last 3 years)! It was beaut-as Ryan would say!
We started our hop-on-hop-off "Baz Bus" ticket on Thursday getting off at Mossel Bay. Unfortunately this stop was made only for Ryan to do a shark cage dive the next morning but the boat broke down in the middle of the sea before they could go down in the cage. So Friday we just made our way to Oudtshoorn where on Saturday I got to see around the Cango Caves and an Ostrich farm. The hostel also prepared a BBQ with ostrich meat as a kebab and a sausage-just like beef! The Ostrich Farm was amazing (even at 39C)-got to see some eggs hatching and then the baby ostriches walking around. It was hilarious watching people trying to ride ostriches! We arrived in Wilderness late on Saturday afternoon and as it was quite secluded we decided to hire an old beetle, as you can see in the photo. We used it to go to Knysna further along the Garden Route which is quite a tourist town with cute shops and also to go around the lagoon and beaches in Wilderness.
We just arrived in Plattensburg Bay tonight and as it is dark it is too dangerous to go out but first thing inthe morning we are heading to the 216m bungee for Ryan. They advertise it as the highest in the World but Caroline and her friends tell me differently. So I'll let him settle for the second highest! Hope you are all well and from what I hear have been taking care on the roads while we are sweating like pigs! Leave a comment and look at photos-can't put them all up!
