It's our last day in Sydney today, the week seems to have gone so fast! We arrived last Friday afternoon after a very uncomfortable 9 hour bus journey. Most places were shut that night as it was Good Friday so our hostel provided free noodles and drink, and we got a bit excited about the free internet and touch screen computers! Saturday we spent the day walking around and sussing the place out, we were recommended some mashed potato from a small cafe on wheels called 'Harry's'', 90 cents for a cup of the good stuff, we were in heaven! We obviously visited the Opera House and Harbour Bridge first chance we could, it felt so surreal to actually be stood there, on the Sydney Opera House steps! That night we had a free meal with the rest of our bus crew, at 'The Gaff'', and then met up with some other mates from up the coast and partied with them. The next day we went back to the bridge to climb the tower, the views were really cool, and we didn't have to pay the $200 that it would've cost to climb the actual bridge! We had a cosy night in together that night and caught up on some much needed sleep! On Monday it was pouring down with rain so we went to the aquarium to see the fishes! We'd had a nice day with the girlies until disaster struck on the way home! We were walking the long walk back to the hostel in the rain and the dark, when Charlotte stood on a huge piece of glass, putting her whole weight down on it so it pierced through her flip flop and into her foot. The blood that was pouring out was crazy! We basically sat her down in the nearest open shop and called an ambulance to come and sort her out, so we spent about an hour in the hospital with her! After that eventful episode we were greeted at our hostel with free hotdogs, wahay! We're so easily pleased! It was also movie night so we had a chilled out evening watching Pearl Harbour. Tuesday was a lovely sunny day, so time to top up our so far feble tans, we spent the day at the famous Bondi beach sunbathing and watching the surfers. No free food on offer that night so we actually cooked for ourselves, we almost forgot how to! Yesterday was another scorcher, not a single cloud in the sky! We went to the circular quay (the area looking over the bridge and opera house) to do lunch. It was very romantic, just the two of us at a posh restaurant eating kangaroo. It tasted so good! We bought ourselves an ice-cream afterwards and met the girls at the botanical gardens for a bathe! It's our last night here tonight but we decided to have our big night out last night because we didn't fancy feeling rough on the plane tomorrow morning! Today we've been getting organised and sorting everything out before we go to New Zealand tomorrow, can't wait!! We're going to have a picnic in the botanical gardens later, overlooking the opera house and bridge, with our friends Dani, Charlotte and Laura. We've been with them for a while now and it's our last night with them as they are going to Fiji next week, sad times!! xx
