We've arrived in Sydney atlast! It's sad because it's our last stop before moving onto NZ but we're going to enjoy every last minute of it! Ou previous stops before here have been Byron Bay and Surf Camp.
The weather was cold and miserable on arrival in Byron, we were only staying for 2 nights/1 day though. But having said that we were woken by blue skies the next morning so topped up out tans on the beach and sussed where everything was in town. Both nights we spent at 'Cheeky Monkeys' the local backpackers bar, where they serve $2 and $5 meals (huge portions!) and actually encourage you to dance on the tables! There are plenty of games to be played to win prizes and free drinks, then late on in the night drinks are cleared and dancing begins! Although we weren't too happy to wake up at 6.45am the next morning to get ready to catch the next Oz bus to Surf Camp.
Surf Camp was a compulsory stop on the bus, but i'm glad it was otherwise we would of given surfing a chance. We were greated by typical surfer dudes - board shorts, caps and bleached blonde hair that looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks! We all didn't really know what to expect when surfing, but after getting our wetsuits on we were ready. We had to do practice on the beach first learning techniques and then straight into the water. They help steady your boards at first so you get up alright but it takes a lot of practice on your own - so much fun though! We're definately going to hire a board for Bondi Beach. There was a photographer taking action shots of us all aswell, which was funny looking back at the photos. We spent about three hours out at sea surfing and then had food served to us, with huge portions - so good, just what we needed! But the next morning it was up early at 6am ready for a cooked breakfast (again, so good!) andgot on the bus at 7am. The coach journey was 9 hours ish to Sydney but really worth it. The hostel we're stayinbg at has free internet, free meal tonight and free breakfast so we're all in very good moods! We've spent atleast 3 hours on the internet tonight - we have to take advantage!! xxx
