I apologize right here, right now, for the brevity of this entry. It's midnight for me in Cairo and I'm getting ready for bed, but I figured I should probably put an entry up now that I've set up my blog. I think I'll just put up a quick list of observations I've made for the whole day and a half I've been here.
-Not terribly impressed with the food thus far. Although the falafel is quite good. I think part of it may be that I think I've been tired, dehydrated, and hot, so that has killed my appetite
-Cairo is alternately gorgeous and depressing. The streets are very dirty, but the skyline in the majority of places is an incredible combination of slums, graceful mosques, and hotels.
-The tactics used by men in the market place trying to get you to buy stuff can be hilarious. Some of my favorites:
"Hey Yankee!" (pause as I ignore them) "Yankee! Howdy-Doody!"
(in response to me telling my friend, Brittani that I was proud of her for something) "I would be proud of you if you bought something"
-oh, and I saw the pyramids from the plane as we landed. It was pretty sweet.
Now it is bedtime. I promise more updates soon.
