Hello!
Sorry we have been a while writing this episode... far too busy! We arrived in Auckland, NZ on Sunday 4th Nov ... to rain!!!! Weather was pants! Stayed here for 2 days... then moved on and the sun shone on us up until today! We travelled south to a place called Waitamo Caves.. a cute little campsite in middle of nowhere... it was rather cool but very pretty. Here we went Black Water Rafting!! This involves donning a rather flattering wet suit... which incidently was very wet!!!.... nice helmet and choosing a rubber ring to sit in! Kelly (I) started small and ended up with the largest!! It's the hips isn't it mum!? We proceeded to climb down to 65 meters below the ground so that we could float about in our rubber rings and observe the Glow worms... they did not tell us that in order to see these worms (it is their poo that glows ... not them!) we would have to jump off up to 6ft high water falls, backwards & in the dark!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway we did it and it was awesome man!!!
Next we moved to Rotoura, capital of the thermal pools & geyzers.... Smelly but interesting! Incidently the scenery travelling between these places is fantastic.. very much like the Shire! Hairy feet too!!!!!! We then visited Taupo... we loved it here.. stayed 2 nights... beautiful. Here Rob was suffering with adrenaline withdrawel... so Bungy it was! It was fab.. watching that is! DVD is great! ... We have stayed in some fabulous places since Taupo...
Arrived in the South Island on Monday via Wellington. The welcome was wow wow wow in regards to the scenery whilst meandering down the straight heading for Picton. Decided not to stay in Picton but to move on... so we travelled a further 150km down the east coast to Kaikora.. the weather was glorious. Tuesday we went for a fab walk, the weather was wonderful.. we saw seals but unfortunatly no Dolphins or Whales... though been there done that!!!!! We arrived in Hamner Springs today.... up in the mountains... the snow capped mountains. Visited the thermal pools... sat & relaxed in them whilst it rained!
Campervan is wicked.. very cosy!!!!!
Heading across country tomo, to Greymouth for a night then on to the Glacier! Can't wait...... Hope you are all keeping well & not too cold!!! Will see you soon.. well in 5 weeks!
Love Kel & Rob xxxxx
