Waking up in the morning was weird, strange city I didn`t know, middle of nowhere and >10,000 mile from home and not one person I knew, ho-hum! Nethertheless, got kicked out onto the streets at 10am so forced to face this new world whether I liked it or not! Despite trying to look confident, I hid in the nearest cafe to get some breaky and get my bearings without looking like a tourist. Then I decided to be brave and face the big city. So I ventured off to sort my phone out and find a new place to stay. Oh and did I forget to mention a bit of retail therapy? hehe... nothing like a spot of surf chick shopping to cheer you up a bit :) George Street is Bonza! Then I got a glimpse of what looked like a bridge, followed the road down and totally didn`t expect to be in Circular Quays, wow! So, kinda pondered around admiring the Opera House and harbour bridge and then, (Carmy and Gem wud be proud) got myself a kipper tie and a slice of cake and sat there in total amazement that I was finally here and that this time a few days ago I was leading the hectic English lifestyle! Got carried away with the time and had to rush back up to westend with my houwge rucksac to find a place to stay before dark. Came across Footprints, a hostel along the way on Pitt St, remembered that alot of people got dropped off by the airport bus here yesterday so wud be worth giving it a look! So I walked in not knowing what to expect with just the memories of the extreme hostels I have stayed in other countries. Big dorms, people coming back drunk at all hours of the morning, see thru showers, ants, spring beds with no matresses argh!!! (that was just the one extreme :)) Little did I know, it would be me coming back half cut at all times in the morning and that I`d actually meet my first group of really nice friends. Seemed like a nice atmosphere so decided to stay a few nights and headed to my dorm feeling totally unconfident and a bit like you do when you start uni and don`t know anyone. But hey, soon got chatting to my roomies and started feeling better when we went out for my first night on the town in Sydney crab racing at Scubar with the hostel! Need I say anymore ;)
