Hi All
Just a quick note to let you know we are in Singapore and have been having a great time exploring the city. If you look at the photos however, it looks like we found India.... we are staying in Little India and its so awesome. The streets at night are magical with all the street stalls lit up and seeing all the fruit and veg and Indian stuff for sale is very colourful and fragrant.
I have met some Henna Artists and been inspired to make new designs - I managed to buy some tubes of henna so am back in business so to speak and am sporting an elbow to finger tip tattoo (temporary of course..). We've been out for a curry, visited some Hindu temples and generally cemented our plan to return to India on this trip.
We have also enjoyed the Chinese side of things in Singapore, spending time on Orchard Road and Chinatown. The botanical gardens were beautiful (although steaming hot in the lunchtime humidity!).
The highlight of Singapore was meeting up with our Aussie friends (who live in NZ) Ruth and Gavin. It was by sheer coincidence that they were passing through Singapore the same time as us. How delightful it was to see some familiar faces. We had a lovely afternoon at an Irish Pub followed by a Singapore Sling in their Hotel Bar (a first for us!). You can see a photo of us on the photo album slurping our cocktails :0)
If you are looking at the photos you will notice a picture of our plastic bed..... erm.... what???? Even though the room has aircon there is no way you can sleep on a vinyl bed (covered in one sheet) without sweating in this heat!!! So, we don't actually get in the bed to sleep, we have been sleeping in our sleeping bag liners on top of the sheets with a sarong over us to keep warm under the aircon. I also have to mention the fact that our room has no window so really its a glorified cupboard. Still, its cheap (for Singapore) and clean so we make do.
Ok, this was going to be short but I have news so it turns into a book.
Hope you are all well!
Lots of love
Kerry and Brian

PS. We discovered Red Dragonfruit drink and White Dragonfruit (to eat). Both are delicious.
