Hello!
Well, here we are on the road again. We have been in NZ for about 10 days now.It was a frantic departure from Melbourne where we still packing up and cleaning our house on the day of departure. We called in to the pharmacy at Chadstone on our way to the airport to pick up our Malaria pills and to spend a Kathmandu voucher my work had given me, so I left for the airport with a shiny new pair of walking shoes (thanks guys!) and a pocket full of pills for the mossies.Next time we do such a big departure we vow to be more organised as we arrived at the airport and collapsed in a heap. (A big thanks to Mark for your help with the garden - the house looked so nice when we left it for the tennants J).
We flew to Wellington and spent the first five days with family and friends (see photos). While we were there Brian and I managed to fit in a 12km bush walk to the Orongorongo River which was just beautiful. It was a bit of an ambitious walk for my new shoes so I ended up with a good sized blister so since then have only been able to wear jandals (I can use that word here without anyone laughing….).
On Tuesday we headed up the island to Tauranga with Mum and Dad to stay with Brian's Dad Dudley and to visit more of Brian's family.Today Mum and Dad left to go back to Wellington so Brian, Dudley, Shirley and I came to Waihi Beach to stay in a beach house for the weekend.
Waihi Beach is pretty stunning so we have been enjoying the scenery and took a long walk on the beach after dinner.Today in the town we discovered a shop called the Secret Garden. It was delightful and artistic with Henna designs on the wall (and loo!) and a lovely garden out the back (secret of course) with Balinese huts.I was so entranced by it that I nearly moved in.However, there is plenty more world to discover so I reluctantly left.Shannon you would have loved it - I half expected you to jump out from behind a tree as there were Shannon-esque Henna designs everywhere.
Ok, so I'll stop now but have a look at the photos on this site to see what we have been up to and that will fill in the gaps.On Tuesday we fly to Bali via Brisbane so I guess the next blog will be from Bali (probably sent from under a palm tree sipping some fruity beverage….. ok I'll really stop now).
Hope you are all well and happy.
Lots of love and sunshine
Kerry and Brian
